Carolina Mourning

UNC and Tar Heels everywhere are mourning the loss of Jason Ray, one of 3 guys who portrayed UNC's mascot Rameses, after he was hit by an SUV in New Jersey while the Heels were up there for the NCAAs.

What I found out through the blog of a friend's friend (and from the Daily Tar Heel) was that Jason was an active member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, the campus organization responsible for so many of my fond memories of my years at Carolina. He died 3/26 after his family made the decision to pull his life-support.

As a parent, I can't imagine the grief that must have gone into that decision. I also know that, if Jason was a Christian, then he is far better off than you and I are right now! He has already met the Resurrection and the Life.

My prayers are of course with his family and friends. My prayer as a parent is that when it is my son's time to go (whether I am around to see it or not), that he too will meet Jesus on the other side.
