Another prayer request

Something I left out of the last post is prayer for My husband. Of all of us, he is the most directly affected by this. I asked him how he felt tonight and his response was, "Like crap." He does not like to be not working and he is not content to be home as much as he has been. Not that he doesn't love us, but he wants to be working. Part of it is I think a man's natural desire to want to provide for his family, and part of it is that this is someone who WORKS, period. Were he a woman I think he would be still be unhappy to sit on his hiney, though maybe not as much. Please keep him in your prayers for this as well. Thanks.

Multiple Prayer Requests

I know it's been FOREVER since we posted, almost keeping up with the Travis Family's blog-famine. Our lives have been super-crazy these last few weeks and I don't see it letting up any time soon. So, with that in mind, we would be most grateful if you would keep our family in your prayers. DH (=dear hubby) turned in his two-week notice at his job April 5, due to some things that were happening that he felt weren't right, not the least of which was overt nasty comments made to him, which made for a hostile work environment. Well, the day before his notice was up, his supervisor "fired" him for a bogus reason, which if you want to know the details, I'll email them to you. Too long to post on what is already looking to be a long post. Which brings me to...

Our business. We took the opportunity of DH no longer working at his former job to start our own landscaping/lawn care business. I knew it was going to be a lot of work but I didn't have a clue how much. So most of my/our free time is spent working on things for that. While I am working on getting the business off the ground & writing a business plan, he is cutting a couple yards and picking up the slack in taking care of Daniel.

Which makes us both dead tired. I'm doing most of the paperwork stuff to get this thing off the ground and it is amazing amount of stress for me, as I want to get it right the first time. Plus, I am (obviously) working and having to pick up more nights at the hospital at the same time. More work & less sleep = VERY TIRED.

Immigration. Most of you all know that I am very passionate about this issue. Well, there is a reason. My husband and I have been married for 5 years. We have a house, a child, 5 years worth of tax records, and now a business together and he STILL does not have a green card. Do you know how frustrating this is for us? Without a green card, my husband will not be able to renew his license in December of this year. That wouldn't be good for business. We have an appt with an immigration lawyer 5/7 to see what our options are. My hope is that Congress will pass something this year. I know God is a big God and can certainly make it happen.

Our finances. There is a lot of cost involved in starting a small business and we have a finite amount of cash. Not in the poorhouse, but we need to be wise in our use of our money. No extras, no going out to eat, no luxuries for a while. I'm working extra hours at the hospital as previously stated, but it's still going to be tight, as that money has to pay for business costs PLUS make up for the current lack of income until business gets running.

I know nothing is impossible with God, and He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Please pray for our family and our situations. We are really well off in comparison with a lot of immigrants (and US citizens for that matter) here and around the world. Nevertheless, these are our needs and we can use all the prayer support we can get. Thanks in advance.

Romaine lettuce
Bell peppers
JalapeƱo peppers
Roma tomatoes
Apple tree (now in its 4th summer)

White Ribbon

I have posted a link to this site on the sidebar & would encourage you to visit the site. It's simple, user-friendly, and I would encourage you to become a participant if you feel led. It's free. WhiteRibbon.org is a non-governmental organization that promotes respectful, open, healthy debate on how best to resolve the immigration issue (does anyone doubt there is indeed an issue??). It takes a stand against hatred, intimidation, threats, and violence on either side. Very cool indeed.

Sound bites from J. Daniel Guevara

"Scott spit at school. Scott didn't listen. Teacher put Scott in time-out." (story confirmed by teacher.)

"No spitting at table. Spit in my room. Spit at table, go to time-out again." [this is the rule....that he has to go to his room to spit, where he's by himself & not spitting on anyone.]

"Spitting not nice. Can I spit outside?"

"Can I spit in carseat?"

Spitting defined as making raspberries, not expectorating.

...now that that's out of our system....

"No kisses. I'm big boy."

"Coloring in my handy dandy notebook."

"What do you do in your thinking chair? You think." (Blue's Clues thing)

[Wee One sitting on his 'thinking chair' with a baby doll in next exchange]
Papa: How many big boys are sitting in the thinking chair?
Him: (looking at doll, then himself) No. Two babies.

*Warning: mention of body parts
(Wee One & Papa are the bathtub....)
Wee One: Let's count arms: one, two arms, one two Papa arms. Let's count hannies (hands): one two, three, six. Let's count fingers: one, two, three four, five, six seven, eight, nine, ten. Yay!!! Ok, now let's count boobies....

Gotta love two-year-olds.
