I know it's been FOREVER since we posted, almost keeping up with the Travis Family's blog-famine. Our lives have been super-crazy these last few weeks and I don't see it letting up any time soon. So, with that in mind, we would be most grateful if you would keep our family in your prayers. DH (=dear hubby) turned in his two-week notice at his job April 5, due to some things that were happening that he felt weren't right, not the least of which was overt nasty comments made to him, which made for a hostile work environment. Well, the day before his notice was up, his supervisor "fired" him for a bogus reason, which if you want to know the details, I'll email them to you. Too long to post on what is already looking to be a long post. Which brings me to...
Our business. We took the opportunity of DH no longer working at his former job to start our own landscaping/lawn care business. I knew it was going to be a lot of work but I didn't have a clue how much. So most of my/our free time is spent working on things for that. While I am working on getting the business off the ground & writing a business plan, he is cutting a couple yards and picking up the slack in taking care of Daniel.
Which makes us both dead tired. I'm doing most of the paperwork stuff to get this thing off the ground and it is amazing amount of stress for me, as I want to get it right the first time. Plus, I am (obviously) working and having to pick up more nights at the hospital at the same time. More work & less sleep = VERY TIRED.
Immigration. Most of you all know that I am very passionate about this issue. Well, there is a reason. My husband and I have been married for 5 years. We have a house, a child, 5 years worth of tax records, and now a business together and he STILL does not have a green card. Do you know how frustrating this is for us? Without a green card, my husband will not be able to renew his license in December of this year. That wouldn't be good for business. We have an appt with an immigration lawyer 5/7 to see what our options are. My hope is that Congress will pass something this year. I know God is a big God and can certainly make it happen.
Our finances. There is a lot of cost involved in starting a small business and we have a finite amount of cash. Not in the poorhouse, but we need to be wise in our use of our money. No extras, no going out to eat, no luxuries for a while. I'm working extra hours at the hospital as previously stated, but it's still going to be tight, as that money has to pay for business costs PLUS make up for the current lack of income until business gets running.
I know nothing is impossible with God, and He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Please pray for our family and our situations. We are really well off in comparison with a lot of immigrants (and US citizens for that matter) here and around the world. Nevertheless, these are our needs and we can use all the prayer support we can get. Thanks in advance.
